Our Story
Vertical Solutions, Inc. is located in the great city of
Minot, North Dakota - The Magic City!
Vertical Solutions was originally started as a result of some very hard work by George Spengler. George saw a need for an accounting program that would help the agricultural community.
George began, in 1983, by writing an accounting program and calling it EASY-CHEK. This program was designed to keep track of income and expenses and help people balance their checkbook. His main focus was to make a program that would be easy to use yet powerful.
Over time George noticed that he was receiving more and more requests from farmers to be able to keep track of records specific to farming. Being in an agricultural community George began obtaining information about what types of records farmers would need to keep.
As the amount of information and requests grew, he decided it was time to take EASY-CHEK to the next level - EASY-FARM. With the easy to use interface of EASY-CHEK he took the accounting engine, modified it to keep track of farm accounting records, and added a new module - Field Records.
With the Field Records module, farmers are able to keep track of detailed entries concerning crop data, chemical applications, soil samples, fertilizer applications, grain production data, grain sales and much more.
EASY-FARM went through several evolutions over a period of years. George continued to improve the program by adding new features and enhancements. George always listened to and invited the input of farmers on how he could improve the program.
Then in 1987 George received a request from several purebred cattle ranchers to develop a registered cattle program. With the help of a local programmer and a registered cattle breeder, The Cattle Manager was created. George began to market The Cattle Manager as a solution to the record keeping needs of registered cattle breeders.
With the help of local economic development funds, Vertical Solutions was incorporated in 1994 and George began hiring staff to help develop and market the software programs.
